Today’s ATP Finals began with a major shock as Casper Ruud pulled off a stunning victory over one of the tournament’s top favorites, Carlos Alcaraz (ATP No. 3), in Group B’s opening match.
Details: Alcaraz was outplayed in the first set, losing 1-6 without much resistance. However, in the second set, the Spaniard built a commanding 5-1 lead, only to see Ruud mount an extraordinary comeback, winning six consecutive games to close out the set and secure the victory.
In the second match of this group, Alexander Zverev will face off against Andrey Rublev later today.
Reminder: Novak Djokovic, who is absent from the ATP Finals, has dropped out of the top 5 in the world rankings.
