Unusual! Serge Aurier is set to sign for a 7th-tier club
The former Ivory Coast international is reportedly in advanced talks with Montigny-en-Gohelle, who play in Regional 2.
Serge Aurier is on the verge of an unexpected career move, to say the least. A free agent since leaving Iran, the former Paris Saint-Germain and Tottenham right-back is reportedly set to sign for a club that does not compete in professional football.
According to reports in La Voix du Nord, Serge Aurier is in very advanced talks with Montigny-en-Gohelle, a club competing in Regional 2, the seventh tier of French football. It is nonetheless a surprising choice for a player who has represented major European clubs.
It should be noted that Serge Aurier joined the coaching staff at RC Lens this summer. The 33-year-old Ivorian defender has become an assistant coach at the French club.
