Nottingham Forest striker Chris Wood continues to impress with his goal-scoring form this season.
The New Zealand international netted a hat-trick against Brighton in the 24th round of the Premier League, taking his tally to 17 goals for the season — his highest single-season total. His previous bests were 14 goals in both the 2019-20 and 2023-24 campaigns.
Only Stan Collymore (22 goals in 1994-95) has ever scored more goals for Nottingham Forest in a single Premier League season. However, Collymore's tally came over a full 38-game season, while Wood and his teammates still have 14 matches left to play.
Besides, Wood is the first Nottingham Forest player to score a top-flight hat-trick at the City Ground since Nigel Clough against QPR in December 1987.
A note. Earlier, we explained why England could have as many as seven teams in next season’s UEFA Champions League.
