From January 10 to 12, 2025, matches for the 17th round of Ligue 1 took place. The most common scoreline was 2-1, with five out of nine games ending with this result.

A goalless draw was recorded in the match between Auxerre and Lille, despite Auxerre playing most of the second half with ten men. The game between Montpellier and Angers (1-3) saw two red cards, both for Montpellier players. PSG and Marseille continued their winning streaks, while Monaco managed to salvage a draw against Nantes after trailing 0-2.

Here’s the symbolic team of the week for Ligue 1 round 17:

Goalkeeper: Théo De Percin (Auxerre)

The 23-year-old Auxerre goalkeeper, in just his second game of the season, was the hero in the draw against Lille.
Théo made five saves, completed 10 accurate long passes, and made one clearance. Most notably, he denied Jonathan David from the penalty spot in the 58th minute—David's first missed penalty of the season.

Left-back: Deiver Machado (Lens)

The 31-year-old Colombian was pivotal in Lens’ victory over Le Havre. He made three clearances, three tackles, and achieved 87% passing accuracy, including two key passes, a cross, and a long ball.

Machado also won 11 out of 16 duels and scored the decisive goal with a header from Frankowski’s cross in the 77th minute. It was Machado’s first goal of the 2024/2025 Ligue 1 season.

Center-back: Jubal (Auxerre)

Auxerre’s captain excelled in defense against Lille. He made six clearances, blocked three shots, completed two tackles, and made one interception. Jubal won all three aerial duels and three out of four ground duels, alongside 16 accurate passes.

Right-back: Kelvin Amian (Nantes)

Against Monaco, Amian excelled in all seven duels, both on the ground and in the air. He made four tackles and completed 19 accurate passes, including two long balls.

On the 47th minute, Amian scored a stunning volley from outside the box into the top corner. It was his first goal for Nantes.

Right midfielder: Lee Kang-In (PSG)

The 23-year-old Korean demonstrated 94% passing accuracy, including seven key passes and long balls. Lee also recorded two successful dribbles, one interception, and one tackle.

In the 13th minute, his pass set up Ousmane Dembélé’s opener.

Central midfielder: Mahdi Camara (Brest)

Camara played a crucial role in Brest’s victory over Lyon, scoring in the 8th minute and assisting Ludovic Ajorque’s goal in the 25th minute.

Left midfielder: Sofiane Diop (Nice)

Against Reims, the 24-year-old Moroccan delivered two key passes and hit the target twice. Diop also created a goal-scoring opportunity that led to Gaëtan Laborde’s third goal in the 64th minute.

Right winger: Mason Greenwood (Marseille)

The Englishman was instrumental in Marseille’s victory over Rennes, scoring his 12th goal of the season on the stroke of halftime. Early in the second half, Greenwood assisted Adrien Rabiot’s goal.

Left winger: Ousmane Dembélé (PSG)

Dembélé scored twice against Saint-Étienne—one from open play after Lee Kang-In’s pass and another from the penalty spot. He also registered two assists, a cross, and three long balls.

Striker: Gaëtan Laborde (Nice)

Laborde netted two of Nice’s four goals against Reims, scoring first from the penalty spot and then from open play in the 64th minute. It was his first brace for Nice since May 2023.

Striker: Emanuel Emegha (Strasbourg)

The 21-year-old Dutchman scored twice against Toulouse, sealing Strasbourg’s victory. His last brace was in March 2024.

Coach: Roberto De Zerbi (Marseille)

After defeating Rennes, a team known for their strong home form, De Zerbi’s side extended their unbeaten streak to six matches.

“Mentality played a decisive role. I’m fortunate to have players with the right balance of composure and ambition,” said De Zerbi after the win.
