Manchester United appear to be preparing for every possible scenario at Old Trafford.

Details: According to journalist Samuel Luckhurst, Brighton head coach Fabian Hürzeler has emerged as the standout candidate to replace Michael Carrick if Manchester United decide to dismiss their current manager. No final decision on Carrick's future has been made, but the club are reportedly assessing possible successors as pressure continues to grow following a difficult start to the season.

Hürzeler has established himself as one of the most highly regarded young coaches in English football since taking charge of Brighton. His work on the south coast has attracted attention thanks to the team's clear playing identity and consistent performances.

The situation does not mean Carrick's departure is inevitable. Manchester United officially handed the Englishman a permanent contract running until 2028 in May after he guided the club to third place in the Premier League and secured Champions League qualification. However, the team's current run of poor results has placed his position under increasing scrutiny.

It is worth noting that Brighton demonstrated their confidence in Hürzeler earlier this year by extending his contract until June 2029. The German coach originally joined the Seagulls in 2024 after guiding St. Pauli to promotion to the Bundesliga.
