Unfortunate tradition: Hamilton crashes car with new team before official start
Lewis Hamilton has joined Ferrari and is preparing for his debut with the new team. However, an unfortunate incident occurred during one of the test sessions.
Details: The British driver crashed the new SF-23 car. The vehicle ended up in the barrier with significant bodywork damage, though fortunately, Hamilton was unharmed. When asked about the incident, he jokingly responded that he was "trying to do my best Leclerc impression."
This isn’t the first time Hamilton has experienced such an event. In every new team he has joined, he has crashed before the official start of the season—first in 2007 with McLaren, then in 2013 with Mercedes, and now with Ferrari.
Interestingly, Hamilton’s debut run with the Scuderia was also recently hindered by pedal issues in the car, which led to mistakes on track.
Reminder: The legendary British driver’s contract with Ferrari is set for two years, with an option to extend for another year. The new Formula 1 season begins on March 16 in Australia.
