In the second leg of the UEFA Champions League Round of 16, Atletico hosted Real Madrid. An unexpected incident occurred in the second half.
Details: In the 70th minute, Real Madrid had a golden opportunity to equalize with a penalty. However, Vinicius Junior shot well wide of the goal from the spot, sending the ball into the stands.
According to Opta, this was Vinicius's first missed penalty in all competitions for Real Madrid. Prior to this, he had taken eight successful penalties since January 2024.
