Unexpectedly. Trippier is close to a contract with a Turkish Super Lig newcomer

Kieran Trippier may still leave Newcastle United despite the closure of the transfer window in the UK. Reports suggest that the right-back of the "Magpies" has agreed on personal terms with Turkish Süper Lig club Eyüpspor.

According to Turkish journalist Reşat Can Özbudak, Eyüpspor, managed by former Atlético Madrid and Barcelona player Arda Turan, has already reached an agreement with Trippier. It is still unclear whether this will be a loan or a permanent transfer, but Trippier is currently negotiating his contract with Newcastle.

Trippier reportedly wanted to leave Newcastle after his performances for the England national team in the European Championship, and his desire to move increased with the start of the new Premier League season in August. Manager Eddie Howe informed Trippier that Bruno Guimarães would now wear the captain’s armband. Trippier, who had previously worn the armband in the absence of Jamaal Lascelles, was disappointed to learn about the change at the last minute.

Trippier has two years left on his contract with Newcastle, but a deal with Eyüpspor is still possible, as the Turkish transfer window remains open for almost two more weeks.
