Unexpected twist! Deschamps receives offer to take charge of a European national team

Didier Deschamps is in no rush to cut short his well-earned break for an immediate return to coaching.

Details: According to the respected French newspaper Le Figaro, former France manager Didier Deschamps received an offer to take charge of the Turkey national team. The Turkish Football Federation is searching for a new manager amid criticism of Vincenzo Montella following the team's group-stage exit from the 2026 World Cup.

However, the 57-year-old coach, together with his representative Jean-Pierre Bernès, rejected the Turkish approach. The Frenchman made it clear that he would prefer to take an extended break and has no intention of rushing his search for a new team. Notably, the offer was reported on the very day of the Nations League head-to-head clash between Turkey and France, in which Les Bleus will officially play under Deschamps' successor, Zinedine Zidane, for the first time.

It is worth noting that Didier Deschamps managed France for 14 years, from 2012 until the summer of 2026. Under his leadership, the national team won the 2018 World Cup in Russia and the 2021 Nations League, while also reaching the finals of Euro 2016 and the 2022 World Cup in Qatar.
