Unexpected revelation: Lille president discloses how much the club earned from Osimhen's transfer to Napoli
Lille president, Olivier Létang, has revealed how much the club profited from Victor Osimhen's transfer to Napoli in 2020.
Details. The president cited a significantly lower "net profit" from the transfer than previously assumed. According to Létang, Lille earned just €7 million from the sale of the Nigerian star, despite earlier reports of a transfer fee exceeding €70 million, including bonuses and player exchanges.
Quote. "When you account for all the expenses, we didn’t earn €70 million from his sale. The net revenue, considering the player’s purchase, four players valued at €20 million, intermediaries, and commissions, was approximately €7 million," Létang told Nicolo Schira.
Reminder. Lille sold Osimhen to Napoli over four years ago. The Nigerian forward scored 76 goals in 133 matches for the Italian club, playing a pivotal role in Napoli's historic Serie A title triumph in 2023, their first in 33 years.
Currently, Osimhen is on loan at Turkish side Galatasaray, where he has netted 10 goals in 14 matches. His contract at Napoli's Stadio Diego Maradona runs until 2026, though clauses could see him permanently leave the club in January or summer.
