Unexpected! Real Madrid’s star winger wants to leave Europe
Mastantuono is being drawn back to where he became one of Argentina’s biggest football sensations.
Details: According to journalist Guillermo Rai, 18-year-old attacking midfielder Franco Mastantuono wants to return to River Plate.
The Argentine club’s management is already aware of the player’s desire and is interested in his comeback. However, there’s no word yet on official negotiations or Real Madrid’s approval of a potential deal.

In Madrid, they are also considering the option of loaning the young Argentine out in order to give him more playing time. However, it’s unclear whether Real’s management sees a return to South America as the best route for his development.
For Mastantuono himself, a return to River Plate could be a chance to get regular minutes again, regain confidence, and continue his growth in familiar surroundings.
It’s worth noting that Mastantuono moved from River Plate to Real Madrid in the summer of 2025, signing a six-year contract. His deal with the Madrid club runs until 2031, and his market value is estimated at €45 million.
