Hoeneß has decided to bring Bayern's young talent back down to earth.

Details: Bayern Munich honorary president Uli Hoeneß has publicly criticized 18-year-old Lennart Karl and revealed that he plans to have a serious conversation with the youngster. Speaking to Welt am Sonntag, the longtime Bayern figure stressed that Karl is still far from being a superstar and said young players need humility.

Hoeneß also addressed the growing comparisons between Karl and Bayern winger Michael Olise. According to the honorary president, such parallels are doing the German youngster no favors because there is still a huge difference between the two players at this stage of their careers.

Karl enjoyed a spectacular breakthrough last season, but his progress was interrupted by a thigh muscle injury that ruled him out of the 2026 World Cup. Since returning, the attacking midfielder has found it more difficult to reproduce the level that made him one of Bayern's most talked-about young players.

Bayern sporting director Max Eberl has taken a softer stance on the situation, describing Karl's current difficulties as a normal process for a young professional and emphasizing that the club continues to support him. It is worth noting that Karl has made nine appearances for Bayern this season, scoring one goal and providing one assist in 267 minutes of action.
