Unexpected: Ashworth could succeed Gaspar at Arsenal
During this season, both Arsenal and Manchester United parted ways with their sporting directors. It now seems that one club might fill its vacancy with a former official from the other.
Details: According to The Daily Mirror, former Manchester United executive Dan Ashworth has emerged as the leading candidate for the sporting director role at Arsenal, following the departure of Edu Gaspar.
If Ashworth moves to the Emirates, he would reunite with Arsenal’s managing director, Richard Garlick, with whom he previously worked at West Brom. Arsenal is currently evaluating its options for replacing Edu, and Ashworth’s sudden departure from Old Trafford appears to have caught their interest.
Reminder: Former Real Sociedad director Roberto Olabe was also previously mentioned as a potential candidate for the role at the North London club.
