Unbelievable! Ronaldinho could rescue a sinking basketball giant
Ronaldinho is ready to swap the football pitch for the basketball court—though this time, not as a player.
Details: According to L'Équipe, Brazilian football icon Ronaldinho is considering a takeover of basketball club Monaco. The 46-year-old legend, together with his investment fund, enjoys a very close relationship with the Principality and, as the source reports, already has the funds necessary for the club’s acquisition.

Monaco is in the midst of a severe crisis: as of June, the club’s debts were estimated at €24 million, and on August 1, the French Basketball Federation’s appeals chamber confirmed the team’s exclusion from all professional national competitions for the 2026/27 season. The club has already appealed to the CNOSF—the French National Olympic and Sports Committee—and must submit the required documents by August 19. In addition to Ronaldinho, other investors have joined the race to save the club.
Yet on the court, things couldn’t have looked better for Roca Team: in June, the squad captured the French championship in heroic fashion, defeating Paris in a decisive fifth game of the finals, and in the spring, they reached the EuroLeague quarterfinals.
It’s worth noting that Ronaldinho has already shocked the sporting world this summer: at 46, he signed a playing contract with Italian Serie C club Ravenna, promising that the magic is only just beginning.
Reminder: The legend is back home! Ronaldinho visits Barcelona's club museum.
