On Wednesday, May 20, the UEFA Europa League final took place, with Aston Villa facing SC Freiburg.
The English side struck twice in the first half. First, in the 41st minute, Youri Tielemans opened the scoring, and in the third minute of added time (45+3), Emi Buendía doubled his team’s advantage.
Early in the second half, Morgan Rogers made it 3–0, effectively sealing the result. Freiburg had no response, and the Birmingham side went on to secure a dominant 3–0 victory.
For Aston Villa, this is the first UEFA Europa League/UEFA Cup title in the club’s history. For their manager, however, it marks a fifth triumph in this competition. He previously won it three times with Sevilla FC, once with Villarreal CF, and now once with Aston Villa.
