Atalanta is on the verge of signing Ukrainian striker Bohdan Popov from Empoli.
Details: The Bergamo club has accelerated negotiations for the 19-year-old forward and is ready to pay around €5 million for his transfer.
Cagliari have also shown interest in Popov, but it is Atalanta that currently leads the race for the Ukrainian forward.
Signing the striker is seen as part of the club’s strategy to attract the best young talents.
Popov previously trained in Dynamo Kyiv’s academy, and after the full-scale Russian invasion of Ukraine, he moved to Poland, where he played for the youth teams of Górnik Zabrze. In 2023, he joined Empoli.
During the 2025/26 season, Bohdan made 24 appearances for Empoli’s first team and scored 5 goals. He has also been called up to Ukraine’s youth and U21 national teams.
