Uganda and Tanzania Shine in CAF Schools Championship
Uganda and Tanzania triumphed in the CAF African Schools Football Championship (CECAFA Zone) at St. Mary’s Stadium, Kitende. Uganda dominated the girls’ category with an emphatic 8-0 win over Rwanda, led by Brendah Nassaka’s four goals. The victory secured Uganda the title on goal difference over Tanzania, with both teams finishing on seven points.
In the boys’ competition, Tanzania edged Rwanda 2-0 to clinch the title, thanks to goals from Elick Yusuh and Jabiri Farijala. Tanzania finished level on six points with Uganda but won on superior goal difference.
Both champions earned $100,000 and spots in the continental finals.Uganda (boys) and Tanzania (girls) received $75,000 as runners-up. Individual honors included Uganda’s Nassaka as top scorer and Tanzania receiving the boys’ Fair Play award.
The championship, supported by the Motsepe Foundation, showcased the region’s talent and commitment to youth football development.
