The UEFA Nations League has already become a familiar tournament for both fans and national teams, but significant changes are now being planned, with the competition set for a fresh new look in the near future.

Details: UEFA is planning to revise the divisional structure. Instead of four divisions, the tournament would feature three divisions of 18 teams each. Every division would be split into three groups of six teams, with each nation playing six matches against five different opponents.

With 55 teams taking part in the competition, League C would contain one group of seven teams. This means those nations would begin their schedule one international window earlier than the rest.

The quarter-finals, the Finals tournament, and the promotion/relegation play-offs would remain unchanged. UEFA is continuing to work through the final details before the new format receives official approval.

Reminder: The draw for the new season of Europe’s prestigious international football competition was held recently, setting the stage for another exciting campaign.
