UEFA has initiated an investigation into the conduct of fans during the Croatia-Albania match UEFA

On Tuesday, June 19, the Croatian national team played a group stage match of the European Championship against Albania. The game ended in a 2-2 draw.

Following the match, UEFA initiated an investigation into the behavior of the fans during the game. According to a statement, the investigation pertains to potential racist and/or discriminatory behavior by the supporters.

"In accordance with Article 31(4) of the UEFA Disciplinary Regulations, a UEFA ethics and disciplinary inspector has been appointed today to investigate potential racist and/or discriminatory behavior by fans that likely occurred during the 2024 European Championship group stage match between the representatives of the Croatian Football Federation (HNS) and the Albanian Football Association (FSHF), which took place on June 19, 2024, in Hamburg, Germany.

Further information on this matter will be provided in due course," UEFA reported.

It is noteworthy that friendly fans from Croatia and Albania were heard chanting "kill, kill, kill the Serb" in the stands. Jovan Surbatović, the general secretary of the Serbian Federation, stated in an interview with Serbian broadcaster RTS that he had reported this incident to UEFA and threatened to withdraw from the tournament if no action was taken.
