UEFA has imposed a penalty on the boy who ran onto the field and took a selfie with Cristiano Ronaldo during the Euro 2024 match between Portugal and Turkey.
UEFA has announced that the child is banned from attending any further Euro 2024 matches.
The incident occurred during Portugal's 3:0 victory over Turkey at the Westfalenstadion in Dortmund. The boy, wearing a red shirt, managed to get onto the pitch, took out his phone, and snapped a picture. Ronaldo, smiling, kindly posed for the photo.
After taking the selfie, the boy ran to evade stewards but was apprehended and escorted out of the stadium. The photo was shared on social media after the game and quickly went viral.
Portugal's match against Turkey was relatively straightforward for Roberto Martinez's team, resulting in a convincing 3:0 victory. This win secured Portugal's top spot in the group and advancement to the knockout stage.
As for Ronaldo, the Portuguese star broke another record in this match, despite not scoring a goal.
