The new UEFA Champions League season is just around the corner, and it will be a historic one, as it will be conducted in a new format.

UEFA Champions League 2024/25: what to know about the tournament?

One of the key changes in the reforms introduced by the UEFA Executive Committee is the revision of the group stage format. Starting from the 2024/25 season, the Champions League will feature 36 clubs in the main stage, instead of the traditional 32. This will give four additional teams the chance to compete against Europe's best clubs. In this new format, all 36 teams will compete in a single league, where each team will face different opponents.

This new setup will allow participants to test their strength against a wider variety of opponents and provide fans with more opportunities to see top club matchups earlier in the tournament.

The 2024/25 UEFA Champions League season will be the 70th season of Europe's premier club football tournament organized by UEFA and the 33rd season since it was renamed from the European Champion Clubs' Cup to the UEFA Champions League. The final will take place on May 31, 2025, at the Allianz Arena in Munich, Germany.
