The first-ever league stage of the UEFA Champions League has come to an end, and all teams advancing to the knockout phase have been determined.
The tournament’s new format introduces changes to the qualification rules. The top eight teams automatically advance to the round of 16. Teams finishing between 9th and 24th place will compete in playoff matches for the right to join them. Teams finishing 25th or lower are eliminated from European competition, as there is no longer a transfer to the Europa League.
Teams that have qualified directly for the round of 16:
- Liverpool
- Barcelona
- Arsenal
- Inter
- Atlético Madrid
- Bayer Leverkusen
- Lille
- Aston Villa
