Uche Voices Frustration as Palace Struggles Threaten AFCON Hopes
Super Eagles midfielder Christantus Uche has expressed his frustration over his difficult spell at Crystal Palace. The 22-year-old joined the club on loan from Getafe last summer, with a £17 million obligation to buy if he makes 10 Premier League starts. However, the move has stalled, as he has made only five substitute appearances, totalling 67 minutes across all competitions.
With Uche barely featuring in Oliver Glasner’s plans, Palace are considering ending the loan in January instead of activating the mandatory purchase clause.
Sharing his feelings on Instagram, Uche wrote: “It hurts when you go through something that kills you inside but you have to act like it doesn’t bother you at all… Keep believing & faith in all things you do.”
His limited minutes now put his AFCON 2025 chances at risk. Although named in Nigeria’s 54-man provisional list, his lack of action may see him miss the final squad.
