Mali began its 2025 U17 World Cup campaign with a convincing 3-0 win against New Zealand, securing victory on the opening day of Group L. With this win, the Malians sit atop the group, followed by Austria, Saudi Arabia, and New Zealand.
After a balanced start to the match, Mali quickly took control of the game. The young Malians looked dangerous, and Seydou Dembélé opened the scoring in the 17th minute, finishing off a fine combination with Zoumana Ballo.
