U-20 AFCON qualifiers: Cameroon through to the semi-finals of the UNIFFAC tournament
The U-20 Lions capitalised on the 1-1 draw between the Central African Republic and Chad, played on the second matchday of Group A, to secure their qualification.
Cameroon’s U-20 national team have secured their place in the semi-finals of the UNIFFAC U-20 tournament even before playing their second group match. The young Cameroonians had got their campaign off to a flying start with a convincing 3–0 victory over Chad in their opening match.
With three points, they benefited from the draw between their two opponents, who now each have one point after two matches in Group A. This result therefore allows Cameroon to continue their journey in the competition and approach their final match with greater confidence.
The U-20 Lions will face the Central African Republic on Sunday 18 October in their second and final group stage match. Having already secured their place in the semi-finals, the Cameroonians will now be aiming to finish top of their group.
A win against the Central African Republic would allow them to conclude this first phase with another victory and confirm their ambitions.
