Tyson Fury and Wayne Rooney to coach England team in Soccer Aid charity match
Boxing star Tyson Fury and Manchester United legend Wayne Rooney will participate in the Soccer Aid charity match as coaches for the England team. Fury announced his involvement by posting a video on his personal Instagram page.
The charity match, featuring the England team against the World XI, is set to take place on June 15 at Manchester's Old Trafford stadium. Given the venue, it's no surprise that Rooney and Fury were chosen for the coaching roles. Wayne is a Manchester United legend, while Tyson is a long-time fan of the Red Devils.
"The prospect of leading my England team to victory this June fills me with just as much excitement as any heavyweight fight. Everyone knows that I am a huge Manchester United fan too, so it's even more special for me that the game is at Old Trafford this year, and I get to manage one of my heroes, Wayne Rooney," Fury said.
Proceeds from the match will go to UNICEF. Notably, last year's game at Stamford Bridge raised £15 million for charity.
It's worth mentioning that Wayne Rooney is no stranger to Soccer Aid. The former footballer coached during the 2020 match and participated as a player the following year.
