The English Football League's (EFL) disciplinary committee has decided to deduct two points from the Premier League's bottom-placed team, Sheffield United.

The "Blades" received this penalty for failing to pay all transfer fees owed to other clubs at the end of the 2022/23 season. If the club does not settle all debts by the end of the summer transfer window, an additional two points will be deducted.

However, the penalty will only come into effect if Sheffield United is relegated to the Championship at the end of this season. Currently, Chris Wilder's team is in last place with 16 points, trailing 17th place by 9 points.

Sheffield United officially announced that they have accepted the punishment and will not appeal.

It's worth noting that Everton had 8 points deducted this season due to financial fair play violations, while Nottingham Forest had 2 points deducted.
