Two of the next seven Formula 1 seasons to go without races at Spa
Formula 1 has extended its contract to host the Belgian Grand Prix at the Spa-Francorchamps circuit, but the iconic track will be absent from the calendar in two of the next seven seasons.
Details: According to a Formula 1 press release, Spa will not host a Grand Prix in 2028 and 2030. This decision aligns with Liberty Media's plans to rotate circuits in the calendar as the sport continues to add new venues, such as Jeddah and Las Vegas. Formula 1 President Stefano Domenicali acknowledged the efforts made in Belgium to improve the circuit.
Quote: "In recent years, significant work has been done here to improve infrastructure and enhance the fan experience. I want to commend the promoter and the Walloon government for their commitment and passionate support for Formula 1 in Belgium."
Reminder: The 2025 Belgian Grand Prix will take place from July 25-27, featuring the return of the sprint race format. The current race winner is Lewis Hamilton, who will compete for Ferrari next season. Spa has hosted Formula 1 races continuously since 1983.
