Tunisian Football Federation delays ruling on proposed changes to professional player limits
The Tunisian Football Federation’s interim committee, led by Kamel Idir, has delayed its decision on proposals regarding foreign players and transfer policies until the extraordinary general assembly on December 21.
The topic of raising the number of foreign players permitted in each squad was discussed during a meeting with officials from Tunisian Ligue 1 teams on Tuesday. To improve competition, clubs have suggested increasing the number of foreign players allowed in a match from four to six.
In order to give more time for discussion in the next assembly, the committee decided to delay making a final decision. This move demonstrates how challenging it is to strike a compromise between the club's requirements and the league's more general regulations and objectives.
In other developments, the date of the anticipated Tunis derby between Club Africain and Esperance Sportive de Tunis has been set for Sunday, December 22, at 4:30 pm local time, according to the Tunisian Premier League. Club Africain, the league leaders, will play in the derby. They are level with Stade Tunisien with 21 points, while Espérance is in fifth place with 19 points.
The decisions taken during the general assembly could have a lasting impact on the league’s dynamics as clubs strategize for the future.
