Tunisian Football Faces a Tough 2024 Amid Hopes for World Cup Qualification
The Tunisian national team concluded the year 2024 with a new loss against Gambia in the sixth and final round of the qualifiers for the Africa Cup of Nations "Morocco 2025". The year witnessed a series of disappointing results, including four defeats to Namibia, Croatia, Comoros, and Gambia.
Tunisia only managed two points in AFCON 2023, failing to advance past the group stage. Additionally, the team finished third in the Egypt Capital Cup, behind Egypt and Croatia.
In AFCON 2025 qualifiers, Tunisia suffered two home losses against Comoros and Gambia, which is unprecedented.
But there is a glimmer of hope in the 2026 World Cup qualifiers, with Tunisia topping their group with 10 points from four games. Upcoming matches against Liberia and Malawi in March 2025 will decide their fate.
Tunisia are aiming to secure their seventh World Cup appearance, having previously qualified in 1978, 1998, 2002, 2006, 2018 and 2022.
