Tunisia equals a dismal World Cup record
The Eagles of Carthage are already out
Hervé Renard’s appointment as head coach of the Eagles of Carthage during the tournament was not enough to save them from disaster.
Tunisia will not be continuing their World Cup campaign, which is taking place in the United States, Canada and Mexico. The Eagles of Carthage have already been knocked out after two defeats in Group F.
After being thrashed 5–1 by Sweden in their opening match, the Tunisians were trounced 4–0 by Japan in their second group stage match. These results have consigned the Tunisian side to the wrong side of history.
Tunisia has become the second African nation to concede at least nine goals after its first two World Cup matches. Before the Eagles of Carthage, only Zaire had conceded more (11 goals) in 1974.
