Greek tennis player Stefanos Tsitsipas and Japanese player Kei Nishikori met in the second round of the tournament in Montreal, Canada.

Tsitsipas, ranked 11th in the ATP rankings, was the clear favourite for the match as his opponent is the 576th ranked player in the world.

Despite his status, the Greek suffered an unexpected defeat in two sets - 4:6, 4:6. The favourite was unable to do anything against the Japanese underdog.

Thus, the eighth seed at the tournament stopped fighting at the competition, and Nishikori will face the winner of the pair with Hugo Umbert (France) / Nuno Borges (Portugal) in the next round.
