The renowned Greek tennis player Stefanos Tsitsipas has been unexpectedly eliminated from Wimbledon 2024.
In the second-round match, the world number 11 lost in four sets to Finnish tennis player Emil Ruusuvuori, who is ranked only 87th in the ATP rankings.
The first two sets went to tiebreaks, with Ruusuvuori emerging victorious in both. The Finnish player won the first set 8-6 and the second 10-8.
In the third set, it seemed Tsitsipas had regained control of the match. He dominated his service games, broke his opponent, and won the set 6-3. However, in the fourth set, the situation reversed entirely, with Ruusuvuori taking it 6-3.
This advancement to the round of 16 at Wimbledon marks Ruusuvuori's best performance in a Grand Slam tournament.
Ruusuvuori's next opponent will be the 20-year-old French talent Giovanni Mpetshi Perricard.
