Trouble behind the scenes! Kaizer Chiefs coach breaks silence on growing pressure
Tensions are reportedly growing behind the scenes at Kaizer Chiefs, and head coach Fernando Da Cruz has finally addressed the pressure surrounding his position. With results failing to meet expectations, questions are mounting over the direction of the Soweto giants.
Details: According to iDiski Times, disagreements have emerged among members of the Kaizer Chiefs hierarchy and staff over Da Cruz's team selections. The club remains unbeaten in the Betway Premiership, but has recorded only two wins, five draws and one defeat across its last eight matches in all competitions. The French coach insists he expected enormous pressure when accepting the job.
Da Cruz admitted that the team is not producing results quickly enough to satisfy supporters. He explained that he puts pressure on himself every day and remains focused on gradually improving performances. The coach stressed that making the fans happy is his priority, despite reported dissatisfaction with decisions inside the club.
Defending the long-term project, Da Cruz pointed to Mikel Arteta's rebuilding work at Arsenal and Paris Saint-Germain's lengthy pursuit of Champions League success. He argued that transforming a club cannot happen overnight. His comments come before Friday's crucial CAF Confederation Cup return leg against Red Arrows, with Chiefs trailing 1-0 on aggregate.
It's worth noting that Kaizer Chiefs lost the first leg in Zambia after Alassane Diarra scored in the 77th minute. They must now overturn that deficit at Moses Mabhida Stadium on October 23. Failure to progress would increase scrutiny of Da Cruz at an already delicate moment.
