The transfer of Olympique Marseille midfielder Pierre-Emile Højbjerg to English side Newcastle has unexpectedly fallen through. Negotiations between the parties have reached a deadlock due to the player’s own stance.

Details: According to renowned insider Fabrizio Romano, the deal for the 31-year-old Højbjerg is now completely stalled. Newcastle’s management was ready to fully meet Marseille’s financial demands and pay the requested fee. However, during the latest round of talks, Højbjerg himself rejected the offer from the English club. However, negotiations is still ongoing, so everything can change again.

Earlier reports indicated that the clubs were in the final stages of transfer discussions, with the compensation fee expected to be around €14–15 million. Despite Højbjerg’s Premier League experience with Tottenham and Southampton, the midfielder has so far opted to continue his career in France, choosing not to switch clubs this transfer window.
