Tragic death of a footballer in Ghana
Died aged 20
Dominic Frimpong died from gunshot wounds sustained during a robbery targeting the bus of his club, Berekum Chelsea.
The 20-year-old striker and his team were returning from a Ghanaian Premier League match they had played against FC Samartex. But on the way, the Berekum Chelsea delegation was ambushed by highway robbers.
They opened fire and several injuries were reported. Rushed to hospital, Dominic Frimpong did not survive his gunshot wounds and passed away. The player was on loan to Berekum Chelsea from Aduana FC. He had scored two goals in 13 appearances in the Ghanaian Premier League this season.
