Tragic Car Accident in Mpumalanga, South Africa Claims Lives of The Players Siyabonga Zulu and Nhlanhla Masina

The South African football community is reeling from the devastating news of the tragic deaths of Phezulu FC players Siyabonga Zulu and Nhlanhla Masina, who were involved in a fatal car accident on February 16, 2025. The incident occurred while the players were traveling from Secunda to Evander after a league match against FC Sivutsa.

Zulu, a former Mamelodi Sundowns and Bafana Bafana player, and Masina lost their lives at the scene, while their teammate Thabo Mosadi survived but is in critical condition and receiving medical attention. The players were reportedly in a single vehicle when it collided with a double-cab van traveling in the wrong lane.

Playing for a number of elite teams, such as Orlando Pirates, Platinum Stars, and Chippa United, Zulu, now 31, had a stellar career. Additionally, Masina, 30, was well respected in the football community. On and off the field, both athletes had a significant effect and were recognized for their commitment to the game.
