The now-legendary cyclist Tadej Pogačar, who won the 2024 Tour de France, has made a rather surprising decision.

Pogačar has decided not to participate in the 2024 Olympic Games, which begin on July 26 in Paris. The Slovenian cites excessive fatigue from the grueling Tour de France as the reason for his withdrawal.

This would have been Pogačar's second Olympic appearance. At the 2021 Tokyo Olympics, he won a bronze medal. For the upcoming Games, Pogačar was considered one of the favorites for the gold medal.

The recent victory at the Tour de France marked the 25-year-old's third career win in the prestigious race.

The men's road race at the 2024 Olympics is scheduled for July 27.
