Real Madrid advanced to the Champions League quarter-finals after a penalty shootout victory over Atletico in early March. The match was controversial, and the passions surrounding the events at the "Metropolitano" have yet to die down.

Details. UEFA released a statement on Thursday afternoon, announcing that the governing body of European football has launched an investigation into the behavior of Real players during and after the game.

UEFA is investigating the celebrations of Antonio Rudiger, Dani Ceballos, Kylian Mbappe, and Vinicius Junior at the "Metropolitano". After the game concluded, several "Blancos" players demonstratively celebrated their victory in front of Atletico fans, who were still in the stands, clearly provoking conflict.

The Spanish publication Marca reports that Rudiger is under investigation for a "throat-grabbing gesture", Mbappe for "touching his genitals", and Vinicius Junior for "confrontation with the crowd" before and after the match.

While the alleged offense by Ceballos is not specified in the report, he could be seen dancing next to Jude Bellingham shortly after the game ended.

Reminder. UEFA has opened a disciplinary case due to the behavior of Atletico fans, but the "Rojiblancos" were dissatisfied with the actions of Real players during the match and sent a corresponding letter requesting action to Nyon.

Real's next European match will take place on Tuesday, April 8, when they face Arsenal at the "Emirates" in the first leg of the UEFA Champions League quarter-finals.
