London club Tottenham is considering signing Barcelona goalkeeper Marc-André ter Stegen as early as the January transfer window.

Details: According to TeamTalk, Tottenham is ready to bring in the German shot-stopper from Barcelona. Previously, according to the same source, another London club—Chelsea—had also shown interest in ter Stegen.

The 33-year-old goalkeeper has recently lost his starting spot at the Catalan club and is now searching for a team where he can play regularly.

At Tottenham, meanwhile, there are some concerns over Guglielmo Vicario’s performances. Despite his high level, the Italian often struggles with crosses and aerial balls. Signing the experienced ter Stegen could strengthen the goalkeeper position and bring added stability to the squad.

Beyond his on-field qualities, Tottenham is also counting on his leadership skills, which could be invaluable both on the pitch and in the dressing room. Ter Stegen is expected to be available for a relatively modest fee in January.

It’s worth noting that the goalkeeper has only just recovered from injury and has made one appearance for Barcelona this season—coming in the Copa del Rey against Guadalajara, where he kept a clean sheet.

Reminder: Tottenham is eager to offload winger Brennan Johnson as soon as possible.
