The central defender from Kawasaki will soon arrive at Tottenham's camp.

Details: According to Fabrizio Romano on his X account, Tottenham's management has reached an agreement with the Japanese club for the transfer of 20-year-old centre-back Kota Takai.

The reported transfer fee is £5 million—a record sum for a team from the Land of the Rising Sun.

The young Kota Takai is one of Kawasaki's brightest stars, already making 78 appearances for the senior team and featuring 4 times for the Japanese national squad.

The duration of the agreement between the Japanese player and Tottenham has not been officially disclosed, but rumors suggest the contract is for six years.

It's worth noting that in Tottenham's history, there have been two Japanese footballers. The first was Kazuyuki Toda, who played for the club in the 2002/03 season. The second was Takehiro Tomiyasu, who joined the team in 2021.

Reminder: Tottenham is ready to sell Son, but only after their tour of South Korea. Why is that?
