Tel was loaned to the "Hornets" in January to gain more playing time after failing to make an impact at Bayern. In seven matches for Tottenham, he has scored only one goal, and his future at the club remains uncertain. According to the agreement between Bayern and Tottenham, the London club has the option to buy the player for €55 million (£45.7 million).

However, Bayern might intervene in this deal as they are considering recalling all loaned players before the start of the Club World Cup, which begins on June 14 in the USA. Tel's contract with Tottenham expires on June 30, but FIFA will open a new transfer window from June 1 to June 10, giving Bayern the opportunity to terminate the agreement with Tottenham and bring the player back. The new transfer period will open on June 16 and last until September 1, which could pose a problem for Tottenham if they wish to retain Tel.

Tel does not rule out the possibility of staying at Tottenham, as he believes it was the best choice for his development. He noted that his decision was based on the club's support, including communication with the coach and management. However, Tottenham's coach emphasized that it has been a challenging period for Tel, as he had not received much playing time previously, and he continues to work on improving his form.
