Tottenham files lawsuit against Ratcliffe's company. What's the story?

Tottenham has taken legal action in the High Court against Ineos, the company owned by Sir Jim Ratcliffe, who is also a co-owner of Manchester United. The dispute centers on the early termination of a multi-million pound five-year sponsorship agreement between the club and Ineos Automotive.
Back in 2022, the two parties signed a deal that made Ineos Grenadier the official supplier of all-wheel-drive vehicles for Spurs. The company's logos and branding were prominently displayed at the stadium and on the club's kit. However, in March 2025, reports emerged that friendly negotiations had taken place to end the partnership early, with Ineos agreeing to pay the London club a compensation fee.
In an official statement, Ineos confirmed that since 2022 they have been Tottenham's partner and had expanded on the collaboration that began in 2020. The company emphasized, however, that it had a legal right to terminate the contract, and in December 2024, they decided to exercise that right.
