Tottenham edged past Manchester United in the UEFA Europa League final, matching a record that had stood for over 35 years.

Details: This season, the Spurs have now beaten the Red Devils for the fourth time, and according to Opta, have become only the second team in history to achieve this feat. The first was Everton back in the 1985/86 season.

Tottenham defeated Manchester United 3-0 in the first round and 1-0 in the second round of the Premier League. Then, in the Carabao Cup quarterfinals, they outgunned United in a thrilling 4-3 shootout. And finally, they secured their fourth win — in the Europa League final.

With this victory, Tottenham have claimed their first European trophy since the 1983/84 season, when they won the UEFA Cup. This is also the club's first title since 2008. In total, the Spurs’ silverware drought lasted 6,296 days.

Reminder: Tottenham have already rewritten the history of the upcoming UEFA Champions League campaign. We explained how this became possible.
