In 2019, Tottenham made a record signing in their history by acquiring Tanguy Ndombele from Lyon for €65 million, driven by the desire of then-manager Mauricio Pochettino.

However, the midfielder did not live up to expectations. He has not played for the London club since January 2022, having been loaned back to Lyon, and then spending a year each on loan at Napoli and Galatasaray.

During his time in England, Ndombele played 91 matches, scored ten goals, and fell out of favor with the managers at the time.

According to Evening Standard, Tottenham is now ready to part ways with Ndombele and allow him to leave as a free agent. His contract with the London club runs until the end of next year, but Spurs have decided not to extend it and are prepared to let him go now to reduce expenses.

The last time fans saw Ndombele on the pitch for Tottenham was in January 2022, when he started in an FA Cup match against Morecambe, under the management of Antonio Conte.
