The main event of UFC 317 in Las Vegas crowned a new lightweight champion.
Details: The vacant title was contested by the former champion, Brazilian Charles Oliveira (35-11), and the ex-featherweight champion from Georgia Ilia Topuria (17-0), who was making his lightweight debut.
The fight ended in the very first round. Although Oliveira managed a takedown, Topuria escaped the submission attempt and returned to his feet. After a series of exchanges, Topuria landed a right hand to the head, and the Brazilian was knocked out cold.
Thus, Ilia captured the UFC lightweight title in his very first fight in the division.
