To challenge for the top three. Ange Postecoglou reveals who he wanted to sign at Tottenham

Tottenham parted ways with Ange Postecoglou after last season, despite lifting the Europa League trophy. The Australian has now opened up on the players he wanted to bring in to push the club toward the top of the table.

Details: Speaking on The Overlap podcast, the Australian coach explained that after his first season the club signed Solanke along with several young prospects. However, he believed the squad needed players with greater Premier League experience.

Quote: “I was delighted with him (Solanke), I really like him. But I was looking at Pedro Neto, Mbeumo, Semenyo, Marc Guéhi. That’s what the big clubs would do. Those three teenagers are outstanding, I think they’ll be terrific for Tottenham in the future, but they’re not the ones who take you from fifth to fourth or third,” Postecoglou said.

At present, Tottenham sit 16th in the Premier League table. After 26 rounds they have collected 29 points and are just five clear of the relegation zone.

Reminder: Tottenham also recently announced that 52-year-old Danish coach Thomas Frank is no longer the club’s head coach.
