Title fight in the main event. Islam Makhachev - Dustin Poirier. UFC 302 card

Tonight, at the Prudential Center in Newark, USA, the UFC 302 tournament will take place. The main event will feature a bout for the UFC lightweight title (up to 70.3 kg), pitting the reigning champion, Islam Makhachev, against the former interim champion and past title contender, the American Dustin Poirier.

For Makhachev, this fight marks his first of the year. His last appearance in the octagon was in October at UFC 294, where he triumphed over Alex Volkanovski with a first-round knockout during their rematch.

Dustin Poirier fought earlier this year at UFC 299, defeating Benoit Saint-Denis with a second-round knockout. Last year, Poirier had only one fight, losing to Justin Gaethje in the second round at UFC 291.

In the co-main event, former middleweight champion (up to 83.9 kg), American Sean Strickland, will face Brazilian Paulo Costa.

A total of twelve bouts are scheduled for the upcoming event, and Dailysports has prepared a complete card for the tournament.
