Kenyan midfielder Timothy Ouma has officially signed with Czech giants Slavia Prague in a high-profile transfer from Swedish club Elfsborg, for a reported sum of Ksh 473 million. The 20-year-old Harambee Stars international signed a four-and-a-half-year contract that runs until June 2029.
Ouma made 100 games and scored 10 goals in both domestic and European tournaments during his three seasons with Elfsborg. Jiří Bílek, the Sporting Director of Slavia Prague, the 21-time Czech champions, has praised his talent and potential, calling his arrival a major milestone in his career.
"Timothy is a youthful, gifted athlete with exceptional physical attributes. He can control one-on-one scenarios and quicken the pace of the game. We will benefit from his European competition experience," Bílek said.
A New Challenge in Prague
Speaking after his unveiling, Ouma expressed excitement about joining one of Czech football’s most decorated clubs.
"It feels fantastic. I'm eager to take the field and change things. Being a member of Slavia, a large club, is an honor and a task, Ouma remarked.
Despite interest from English and French clubs, Ouma ultimately chose Slavia Prague, believing it to be the best fit for his career.
Slavia Prague’s Current Campaign
Slavia Prague, seven-time Czech First League champions since the country’s formation, currently leads the domestic league with 50 points from 19 matches, sitting seven points ahead of second-placed Viktoria Plzeň. They also competed in the Europa League this season, though they were eliminated in the league phase.
After receiving his first Harambee Stars call-up in 2021, Ouma is now embarking on a new journey in European football, where he intends to continue his progress and make an impact at his new club.
