The Moroccan police have detained eight individuals across several cities on suspicion of "illegal speculation" involving tickets for the Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON), which is currently being held in Morocco.

Details: According to RMC, "internet monitoring services" detected social media posts offering tickets for resale at prices significantly above face value, a clear breach of the law. This prompted an investigation and the subsequent arrest of the suspects.

The arrests were made in Agadir, Marrakech, and Rabat. The detainees have been placed in custody as part of a criminal investigation, and the search continues for other individuals who may be involved in ticket reselling.

It is worth noting that the Africa Cup of Nations 2025 in Morocco is in full swing, with the tournament set to run until January 18.

Recall: Senegal and Bayern Munich forward Nicolas Jackson put on a masterclass and bagged a brace in the Africa Cup of Nations clash against Botswana.
